Car Transporting Brisbane to Perth from a Photographers Perspective

Any photographer would do just about anything to get the perfect shot, something that is unique, original and a little bit out there. It’s not uncommon to find the perfect shot out in nature and the great thing about photography is that you are surrounded by endless opportunities to take that perfect shoot. This is where my passion for automotive photography influenced my decision to drive instead of opting for car transport Brisbane to Perth, on one hand I had to get to the largest classic car show in WA – the Shannon’s Classic Car Show and on the other hand in search for a rare automotive photo opportunity.

Being a photographer, it is incredible to be able to travel to different parts of the country, shooting at the many car shows and events that are organized every year.  The reality is that there are car enthusiasts all over Australia that share a common passion and make available their vehicles to be appreciated by the general public at these car shows.  There is an entire network of interstate car transporters behind the scenes that work on transporting cars from one event to the next and then there are those who prefer to drive. Let’s breakdown some options for moving vehicles over such a long distance.

It is Possible to Drive a Car from Brisbane to Perth

Driving a car interstate is possible but there is a lot of road to cover. Travelling from the east coast of Australia to the west coast Australia takes over 5 hours by plane, so you can expect an average travel time of 6 days taking into account meal breaks, time for rest and sleep. Taking a road trip from Brisbane to Perth can be adventurous, having some company will make the long journey more enjoyable however the down side is the wear and tear the car needs to endure along with the time it takes and high costs in fuel.

Find a Vehicle Transport Company

There a plenty of car carrying businesses that will provide you with a free no-obligation car transport quote. Don’t be shy and get as many quotes as you need, it is probably one of the easiest ways to save some money simply by comparing. Most car carrying companies have their own depot or would use others in the same business, transport quotes are calculated based on the distance the car needs to be transported, the type of carrier required (open or enclosed car carrier), the price of fuel at the time whether the service is door to door car transport, depot to deport car transport or depot to door and vice versa. This option should be considered over long distance, the savings made from not having to take time off work and also expensive accommodation is definitely an advantage.

Either way moving a car requires careful planning and consideration.  Both options are certainly feasible and there is no right and wrong way, it all depends on what your plans are and how you want to go about it. For some, it is all about the journey and the adventure of getting there, whilst others may prefer to have it taken care of professionally.

Taking Better Photographs of Cars
Taking Better Photographs of Cars

For anyone who can appreciate the engineering behind a well manufactured car would most likely agree that a majority of photos they take of vehicles does not do it justice.  There is always room for improvement and taking photos of cars as the subject do deserve to be the hero of any car photograph.

Like any photograph, it should tell a story, captivate and provide an opportunity for the viewer to learn something about what they are looking at. Cars are a beautiful creation that not only helps us get from one place to another, they are also wonderful to look at. Each has their own element that draws in attention and desire to showcase. Let’s discover some basic guidelines to help create photographs to truly present what is there to be appreciated and that is the car itself.

Shoot at the Right Time

There is a huge difference on how good the photograph will turn out based on the time of the day you are shooting. What most people tend to do is shoot photographs at a time that is convenient for them, maybe during midday after a glamorous car wash when the car is free from dust. This might sound ideal however it is a common mistake when shooting cars. Typically as a general rule, the best time of the day will be just before sunrise or just after sunset when glare is at the lowest and the soft light glimmers across the paint.

The Car Colour Makes a Difference

Observe the paint on cars and how they react with different light. Automotive paint technology have come a long way in the last 20 years, there are all types of paint available from metallic to matte and flat. Although most automotive paint prefers indirect sunlight, some paint colours actually strive in direct sunlight.

Use Reflections to Your Advantage

Take a good look around your surroundings and see what reflects off the cars surface. A polished car can be like a mirror so you don’t want to have any unsightly reflections in the cars photograph. Find an open are like a grass field and use a tripod and set the timer to prevent you reflection being captured on the cars paint surface. Avoid buildings and trees behind the camera as the reflection can also be captured which is not ideal. An open space behind you is perfect to capture the reflection of the horizon on the cars surface.

Choose a Background to Suit

Choose a background that compliments the car and look out for anything that draws the attention away from the car. The focus is on the car here so keep it simple; avoid power lines, houses, people and other cars in the photograph.

By following these simple guidelines, automotive photographs can be enhanced to reflect a better quality image. Take the time to know what works and don’t be afraid to experiment with different landscapes and lighting.
